Industrial Automation : Industry Review By IITP Automation

Here is a piece of good news.

The industrial automation industry in India is growing at the rate of 20 to 25 percent. As India's economic health improves, the fortunes of the industry will be even better. The growth of the automation industry will have a positive influence on the prospects of other industries like consumer electronics and computers. With India's gradual integration with the world economy, automation will play an important role in bringing down the costs. Besides costs, automation will also help increase productivity efficiency, aesthetics and delivery systems. Several international players are considering India as a development hub for automation products.

The present scenario

At present, the market is around Rs 200 crore for both industrial and commercial sector automation. The market is expected to increase exponentially in the coming years, and experts observe that the growth rate could touch even 50 per cent in the coming years. The reasons for this are quite clear. As the world economy opens up, consumers will be constantly clamoring for

products and facilities that are present in the developed countries. Take, for instance, Nokia.
It is setting up plants and facilities across the world in order to set up global standards. It is expected that the demand for such systems would only increase. There is also another sector (robotics) where the demand is set to grow exponentially.

The country's domestic consumption is also large. As the effects of the recession wears off, the prospects of this sector will only be better. However, a trend that has been worrying the exporters is the appreciation of the rupee against dollar. For the last few years the rupee had appreciated a lot against the dollar. And that affected the exporters. A stronger rupee had meant Indian goods and services would be less competitive in the export market.
However, the situation is changing now and the dollar is slowly appreciating against the rupee.
